ROCK MILL 1799 / 1824 Ohio's Oldest Mill and One of Ohio's Oldest Grist Mills The current mill photo circa 1902 was erected in 1824 by Christian Morehart. The mill closed circa 1907. Since 2002, restoration and preservation efforts by Fairfield County Parks volunteers remain underway. McFarland - BOLIN Pre-1835 Lamb Road This is the oldest home on the tour. Home Owners Connie Bolin and Family. Saylor - Ebright Dry Goods Store / Towne Square -CARROLL LIONS CLUB 1863 Center Street Situated in heart of Carroll Village. In 1990, the building was purchased by the Carroll Lions Club. Owners and Meeting Location For Carroll Lions Club. Historical Information and DisplaysLon Chaney, Sr. - Silent Movie Film Star. Man of a Thousand Faces. He was featured in over 160 films between 1913 - 1930, including his starring role as the original phantom in the The Phantom of the Opera 1925. Chaney was born in the Carroll area on April 1, 1883, while his parents were in Carroll visiting relatives. James J. Jeffries - Heavyweight Boxing Legend. The Boilermaker and The Great White Hope. Heavyweight Champion of the World. from 1899-1905, James Jeffries retired undefeated, but was coaxed back into the ring in 1910. He was born on a farm near Carroll on April 15, 1875, with his father moving the family west when Jim was about age 7.
