The Lima Company Memorial is a powerful display of paintings honoring the fallen heroes of Lima Company. Twenty-two Marines and a Navy Corpsman from the Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division lost their lives while serving in Iraq in 2005. The reserve unit based at Rickenbacker in Columbus, Ohio was one of the hardest hit single units serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Ridges: Remodeled and Restored, Selection of Architectural Drawings from 1923 – 1951 Dates: April 9 – August 15, 2010 This exhibition features 18 architectural drawings that archive the preservation and maintenance of the Ridges buildings, known as the Athens State Hospital. These highly detailed, hand-drafted plans are documentations of the architectural and engineering design methods used in the first half of the 20th century. Borrowed from the Ohio University planning office, the various technical drawings reveal the intricate craftsmanship, attention to detail and the meticulous process of renovation planning. Specifically, the blueprints in this exhibition depict the improvements to the tuberculosis cottage and infirmary, remodeling of the men’s and women’s ward, exterior painting and repairs of entrance porch of the main administration buildings.

1-3 pm. Naturalists have been feeding hummingbirds at Lake Hope State Park since 1995. A combination of commercial feeders and natural tube flowers are used. Program begins July 1st and ends August 29th. Visitors can learn about Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds and attempt to hand feed them! Stop by anytime during that period to give it a shot. No reservations are required and our hummingbird program is free of charge but we strongly encourage donations to the Friends of Lake Hope. Parking is located near the nature center. Hand-feeding of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds at Lake Hope began when Naturalist Dave Sapienza was replacing a filled feeder and a hummingbird zoomed in for a drink. A few visitors began attempting to feed hummingbirds by hand in 2001 and in 2002 the program became official. For the next couple of years, the program drew a lot of attention from park visitors and from Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds! As many as 10 feeders were maintained by the nature center's staff, being cleaned and refilled daily. As much as 80 pounds of sugar were used each summer. By 2005, as many as 25 hummingbirds could be seen at one time. Participants in the program had about a 50% chance of hand-feeding. But, the most patient visitor was successful, as the last person "standing" always hand-feeds. By 2006, the program had grown to "out of control" proportions as the media caught on to the event and featured it in The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer, Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Magazine, Birds and Blooms, Better Homes and Gardens and Midwest Living. The program was also featured on television's WSAZ in Huntington, WV and the Ohio Division of Wildlife's PBS show, Wild Ohio. Don't miss hummingbird expert, Allen Chartier's visit on Saturday, July 10th. Presentation on Allen's research at the nature center from 9-11 am. Also, Hummingbird Banding Demo at the Nature Center from 1-3 pm on July 10th.

The reserve unit based at Rickenbacker in Columbus, Ohio was one of the hardest hit single units serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Ridges: Remodeled and Restored, Selection of Architectural Drawings from 1923 – 1951 Dates: April 9 – August 15, 2010 This exhibition features 18 architectural drawings that archive the preservation and maintenance of the Ridges buildings, known as the Athens State Hospital. These highly detailed, hand-drafted plans are documentations of the architectural and engineering design methods used in the first half of the 20th century. Borrowed from the Ohio University planning office, the various technical drawings reveal the intricate craftsmanship, attention to detail and the meticulous process of renovation planning. Specifically, the blueprints in this exhibition depict the improvements to the tuberculosis cottage and infirmary, remodeling of the men’s and women’s ward, exterior painting and repairs of entrance porch of the main administration buildings.

1-3 pm. Naturalists have been feeding hummingbirds at Lake Hope State Park since 1995. A combination of commercial feeders and natural tube flowers are used. Program begins July 1st and ends August 29th. Visitors can learn about Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds and attempt to hand feed them! Stop by anytime during that period to give it a shot. No reservations are required and our hummingbird program is free of charge but we strongly encourage donations to the Friends of Lake Hope. Parking is located near the nature center. Hand-feeding of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds at Lake Hope began when Naturalist Dave Sapienza was replacing a filled feeder and a hummingbird zoomed in for a drink. A few visitors began attempting to feed hummingbirds by hand in 2001 and in 2002 the program became official. For the next couple of years, the program drew a lot of attention from park visitors and from Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds! As many as 10 feeders were maintained by the nature center's staff, being cleaned and refilled daily. As much as 80 pounds of sugar were used each summer. By 2005, as many as 25 hummingbirds could be seen at one time. Participants in the program had about a 50% chance of hand-feeding. But, the most patient visitor was successful, as the last person "standing" always hand-feeds. By 2006, the program had grown to "out of control" proportions as the media caught on to the event and featured it in The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer, Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Magazine, Birds and Blooms, Better Homes and Gardens and Midwest Living. The program was also featured on television's WSAZ in Huntington, WV and the Ohio Division of Wildlife's PBS show, Wild Ohio. Don't miss hummingbird expert, Allen Chartier's visit on Saturday, July 10th. Presentation on Allen's research at the nature center from 9-11 am. Also, Hummingbird Banding Demo at the Nature Center from 1-3 pm on July 10th.

Hunters and spectators alike are welcome to come to this year's International Bow Hunters Challenge. Participate in a local shoot or see how it's done, all on Hocking College's campus. This annual bow hunting competition is also the third leg of the Triple Crown, which qualifies competitors for World Shoot Competitions. Professional, semiprofessional and amateur bow hunters will be required to shoot three ranges and total of 40 targets. The amateurs and professionals will also have to aim and shoot at 3D target ranges across the 1,600 acre campus. The reserve unit based at Rickenbacker in Columbus, Ohio was one of the hardest hit single units serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The most unique feature of the Kennedy collection is the series of Navajo sandpainting textiles that Edwin Kennedy commissioned with the assistance of Red Rock Trading Post owners Troy and Edith Kennedy over nearly four decades. These weavings reflect sandpainting designs used in six traditional ceremonial healing practices: Beautyway, Waterway, Bead Chant, Great Star Chant, Hailway, and Coyoteway. It is, by all accounts, the largest single collection of sandpainting textiles in existence.

The Ridges: Remodeled and Restored, Selection of Architectural Drawings from 1923 – 1951 Dates: April 9 – August 15, 2010 This exhibition features 18 architectural drawings that archive the preservation and maintenance of the Ridges buildings, known as the Athens State Hospital. These highly detailed, hand-drafted plans are documentations of the architectural and engineering design methods used in the first half of the 20th century. Borrowed from the Ohio University planning office, the various technical drawings reveal the intricate craftsmanship, attention to detail and the meticulous process of renovation planning. Specifically, the blueprints in this exhibition depict the improvements to the tuberculosis cottage and infirmary, remodeling of the men’s and women’s ward, exterior painting and repairs of entrance porch of the main administration buildings.

1-3 pm. Naturalists have been feeding hummingbirds at Lake Hope State Park since 1995. A combination of commercial feeders and natural tube flowers are used. Program begins July 1st and ends August 29th. Visitors can learn about Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds and attempt to hand feed them! Stop by anytime during that period to give it a shot. No reservations are required and our hummingbird program is free of charge but we strongly encourage donations to the Friends of Lake Hope. Parking is located near the nature center. Hand-feeding of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds at Lake Hope began when Naturalist Dave Sapienza was replacing a filled feeder and a hummingbird zoomed in for a drink. A few visitors began attempting to feed hummingbirds by hand in 2001 and in 2002 the program became official. For the next couple of years, the program drew a lot of attention from park visitors and from Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds! As many as 10 feeders were maintained by the nature center's staff, being cleaned and refilled daily. As much as 80 pounds of sugar were used each summer. By 2005, as many as 25 hummingbirds could be seen at one time. Participants in the program had about a 50% chance of hand-feeding. But, the most patient visitor was successful, as the last person "standing" always hand-feeds. By 2006, the program had grown to "out of control" proportions as the media caught on to the event and featured it in The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer, Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Magazine, Birds and Blooms, Better Homes and Gardens and Midwest Living. The program was also featured on television's WSAZ in Huntington, WV and the Ohio Division of Wildlife's PBS show, Wild Ohio.

1-3 pm. Naturalists have been feeding hummingbirds at Lake Hope State Park since 1995. A combination of commercial feeders and natural tube flowers are used. Program begins July 1st and ends August 29th. Visitors can learn about Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds and attempt to hand feed them! Stop by anytime during that period to give it a shot. No reservations are required and our hummingbird program is free of charge but we strongly encourage donations to the Friends of Lake Hope. Parking is located near the nature center. Hand-feeding of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds at Lake Hope began when Naturalist Dave Sapienza was replacing a filled feeder and a hummingbird zoomed in for a drink. A few visitors began attempting to feed hummingbirds by hand in 2001 and in 2002 the program became official. For the next couple of years, the program drew a lot of attention from park visitors and from Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds! As many as 10 feeders were maintained by the nature center's staff, being cleaned and refilled daily. As much as 80 pounds of sugar were used each summer. By 2005, as many as 25 hummingbirds could be seen at one time. Participants in the program had about a 50% chance of hand-feeding. But, the most patient visitor was successful, as the last person "standing" always hand-feeds. By 2006, the program had grown to "out of control" proportions as the media caught on to the event and featured it in The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer, Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Magazine, Birds and Blooms, Better Homes and Gardens and Midwest Living. The program was also featured on television's WSAZ in Huntington, WV and the Ohio Division of Wildlife's PBS show, Wild Ohio.

The Ridges: Remodeled and Restored, Selection of Architectural Drawings from 1923 – 1951 Dates: April 9 – August 15, 2010 This exhibition features 18 architectural drawings that archive the preservation and maintenance of the Ridges buildings, known as the Athens State Hospital. These highly detailed, hand-drafted plans are documentations of the architectural and engineering design methods used in the first half of the 20th century. Borrowed from the Ohio University planning office, the various technical drawings reveal the intricate craftsmanship, attention to detail and the meticulous process of renovation planning. Specifically, the blueprints in this exhibition depict the improvements to the tuberculosis cottage and infirmary, remodeling of the men’s and women’s ward, exterior painting and repairs of entrance porch of the main administration buildings.

Program begins July 1st and ends August 29th. Visitors can learn about Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds and attempt to hand feed them! Stop by anytime during that period to give it a shot. No reservations are required and our hummingbird program is free of charge but we strongly encourage donations to the Friends of Lake Hope. Parking is located near the nature center. Hand-feeding of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds at Lake Hope began when Naturalist Dave Sapienza was replacing a filled feeder and a hummingbird zoomed in for a drink. A few visitors began attempting to feed hummingbirds by hand in 2001 and in 2002 the program became official. For the next couple of years, the program drew a lot of attention from park visitors and from Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds! As many as 10 feeders were maintained by the nature center's staff, being cleaned and refilled daily. As much as 80 pounds of sugar were used each summer. By 2005, as many as 25 hummingbirds could be seen at one time. Participants in the program had about a 50% chance of hand-feeding. But, the most patient visitor was successful, as the last person "standing" always hand-feeds. By 2006, the program had grown to "out of control" proportions as the media caught on to the event and featured it in The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer, Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Magazine, Birds and Blooms, Better Homes and Gardens and Midwest Living. The program was also featured on television's WSAZ in Huntington, WV and the Ohio Division of Wildlife's PBS show, Wild Ohio.
